52 PickUp - The End

The year long challenge at Little Scrapbook Shop is drawing to a close.  Here is my 52nd Challenge:

This is Aiden's very last pre-school photo, so I thought it very appropriate for the last challenge.

Growing Up....

Today my little man finished pre-school.  He has been so keen to get on to 'big school' for over a year now, but the realisation that he would be leaving all his friends and teachers hit home today.  He spent most of the day in a very emotional state - not helped by his favourite teacher, who was in tears yesterday, and worse today.  Here they are having one last hug.....

Miss Milly gave Aiden the bear he his holding, and he has named it Teddy Milly after her.  Apparently, its a magic bear, so that whenever Aiden is missing Miss Milly, he can give Teddy Milly a hug, and Miss Milly will feel it. These two have shared a wonderful bond over the last two years, and it is so sad to be saying goodbye.

The LSBS White Christmas CyberCrop was on last weekend, and the kids took the Junior Challenge with enthusiasm! I'm so proud of their efforts! They had to create some Christmas Tree Decorations from PaddlePop Sticks, and this is what they came up with:
Beth made a collection of Rudolphs
She painted the sticks red, used the reindeer faces we picked up at the $2 shop, wrapped pipe cleaners for legs, and tied their scarves from Christmas ribbon

 and Aiden created snowflakes
I helpded him stick the PaddlePop sticks together, then he glued and glittered the white buttons on.

Seeing as we are very traditional in the colour scheme of Christmas, these will look gorgeous on our live tree covered in red gold and a few white decorations!

Love you Cherry

Its been 21 years since my beautiful mum physically left this world. There are days I miss her so much.
Its horrible that the anniversary is this time of year - everyone starting to get into the festive spirit and talking about being with family... but I know that she is still here with us - especially through the carrying on of her festive traditions - like  Santa still bringing the adults a Darrell Lea Christmas Pudding - and its great to see the kids enjoying her traditions too

52 Pick Up Week 47

The challenge over at Little Scrapbook Shop's 52 Pick Up this week was to create a Post-It Note Holder.
I managed three as teacher's gifts:
I used the gorgeous new Graphics45 Domestic Godess Papers with scraps of Dream Street, MME and Crate Paper, grabbed some co-ordinating ribbon, and they were done!

Here's the insides:

I can feel quite a few more of these coming on (once I've been shopping for some more postie pads!!)
My lillte man's last pre-school photo - too soon he's off to big school!

He just looks so grown up in this pic!

In other news, I started an new job today - and I must say the girls I'm working with are just great!  The job isn't overly-challenging, but the people make all the difference!

Family Photos

We had the annual family photos a couple of weeks back, and got the disc today.
Photos were by
Carley's Photography -

I love the semi-serious shots

But its the out-takes that are going to make the best layouts!

Sneak peak...

A couple of sneaky shots before the concert yesterday...
Aiden taking his rehearsal very seriously - his tap song was "I Can Do That" - very appropriate!!!

And Beth - dressed and ready to go for her ballet routine - "Chim Chiminee" from Mary Poppins - but behaving more like a "Guitar Hero"!!!!!

Been a bit scrappy...

I've needed the stress relief of scrapping this week.

I've had this pic for 10 years - its never been in a frame, but I picked it up this morning, grabbed some Fancy Pants PP, a bit of ribbon and some Autumn leaves chipboard and this is the result:

So young, so naive - newly engaged, we had just bought our first house, and OMG how HOT was the Jennifer Aniston style hair!!!

I also grabbed a sketch (can't remember where from) and put this together during the week:

An unusal photo for us - very sedate!!!

Through All Life's Ups and Downs

This is just a random layout I did using one of the silly pics taken at the ScrapGirls Retreat at Long Point in Ingleburn over Halloween weekend.  These girls are such a great bunch of moles and I'm more than happy to call them my friends!

52 Pick Up

Little Scrapbook Shop has been hosting "52 Pick Up" - a weekly challenge for 52 weeks of the year.  We are currently at Week 46, and OMG I am actually up to date!

Belle's "14 Ribbons and Staples" Challenge was to incorprate at least 14 ribbons, and lots of staples into a LO:

I managed 16 ribbons and 16 staples!

Of course, it's Belle that had to be different in this pic!

Some terrible person has copied Sandie's daisies and is now selling them through etsy and promoting them through her blog and on Facebook.

To get the original and the best - Handmade Daisies by Sandie - follow the link to Sandie's blog.
Well the BIG thing in our world this week is the Dance Concert for the terrible two.
As both of them do Jazz, Tap and Ballet, in two different age groups - meaning two different classes, and 6 different routines, I've been trying to get not only the costumes, but all the accessories organised!

I've been sewing hems, inserting elastic, matching ribbons, resizing headbands, adjusting vests and fixing lion tails for weeks now!!!!

Here's a sneak peak from dress rehearsal last week.....

First up the terrible two...

Miss with one of her besties... (yes she has lost two teeth in the last week, and has another 2 loose....)

and the boy with his 'best friend always', and out littlest dancer!

My first Blog

I've finally decided to join the techno-savvy world, and start a blog.
It will be a record of what's happening in this little owl's world, including the owlets, Beth and Aiden, and our fluffy owl, Chynna Blue.
My creative work will be here, and so will my 'work' work (lol) as well as Scrap REtreats, friends and family.
Thanks for stopping by!
